Muckraker is an abstract audio distortion effect designed to transform your sound. It offers the ability to add a subtle fuzz to your guitar or push your synth harmonies into aggressive white noise. The application can be utilized with the built-in mic or an external instrument interface. Additionally, it can seamlessly connect with other compatible music apps like GarageBand via Inter-App Audio or Audiobus. Users can map external controllers to the effect controls using learnable MIDI CC. For enhanced productivity, multitasking in split-screen or slide-over mode is supported on iPads running iOS 9 and later.
It is crucial to note that Muckraker begins in a muted state for a specific reason as it has the potential to generate intense feedback. If you encounter silence, please ensure to check the mute button. Furthermore, users now have the option to disable automatic muting in the iOS Settings.
It is important to highlight that Muckraker does not offer an Audio Unit extension. Unfortunately, migrating the underlying technology to the AUv3 environment is not feasible. While this limitation may be disappointing, Muckraker and its related applications are firmly rooted in a particular period; if Inter-App Audio ceases to exist, their availability will also cease. Nevertheless, there may be opportunities for new innovations to emerge in the future.
